After School Helper

This position is only during the school year. After school children in grades K-5 come to the Center for help with school work and enrichment programs. Volunteers bring new ideas, new faces, creativity, knowledge, and humor. This is a role model and mentoring position. (Mondays 1:30 to 4:00); Tuesday through Friday 3:15 to 5:00) During the school year. There are also opportunities for one on one reading with elmentary school students during this program.Training provided on site. A criminal background check is require of all volunteer positions with children.

Early Childhood Program Helper

Assist with the Kennedy Heights Early Childhood Program. Work with 3 - 5 year old children in the Kennedy Heights community most children are English as a second language learners. Support child initiated play inside and outside; assist with art projects, snack time, and clean-up. The program meets Monday - Friday 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM year round.All positions working with children require a criminal background check and a morning of shadowing the program.

Are you Cool Enough?

This after school program for Middle School students provides social, educational,and recreational elements to the diverse Kennedy Heights tenants. Volunteers are needed to help with homework, plan creative activities, and foster responsibility and a sense of community in middle school youth. Activities include but are not limited to cooking, computer activities, outdoor events and tutoring/mentoring. Volunteers are encouraged to bring ideas, a caring attitude, and any special skills that may be passed along to the teens. The program is between the hours of 5:00 and 8:00 during the school year and from 12:00 to 4:00 PM during the summer. Volunteers are needed who can commit at least one day a week on a weekly basis for at least 3 months. Homework tutors with math and science skills are strongly encouraged.Volunteers must be interested in working with diverse populations and able to take initiative . Training will be provided on site. A criminal backgournd check is required of all volunteers working with children.
